Terra Mentis is an independent Environmental Consulting firm based in Boulder, Colorado. Since our creation in 1994, we have managed and contributed to national and international projects. We provide specialized experience in human health and ecological risk assessment. As a boutique company, Terra Mentis collaborates on projects where risk assessment is part of a larger project. We believe that personal service is essential and seek to foster long-term relationships with our clients. Our work products typically stand alone or are integrated risk assessments that are used to support site closure or remediation at Superfund, RCRA or State led hazardous waste site, incinerators, or in support of litigation. Many of these projects have been high profile and controversial.

We have extensive experience with all aspects of the risk assessment process on a large variety of projects. Our company has been involved in risk assessment planning, site sampling plans, data management and analysis, and data modeling to support the risk assessment. We develop data quality objective to ensure adequate, high quality data collection programs in the areas of soil, groundwater, plant up-take, and vapor intrusion for a wide range of sites including: refineries, solvent release sites, mines and mine-waste sites, and for incineration projects. We have also developed monitoring plans to evaluate long-term exposure to a variety of volatile chemicals, including chemical breakdown products of chlorinated and other chemicals in air.

Our firm is staffed with leading toxicologists and experts in vapor intrusion. They have had experience with preparing risk assessments and dose-response estimate documents for specialty chemicals rarely encountered in either waste sites or industrial settings. We have also written over a hundred human health and ecological multi-pathway or multi-chemical risk assessments under CERCLA, RCRA, and State led programs and air quality projects.

Terra Mentis, through our desire to provide personal service and assist in community outreach, has been involved with Community Outreach Plans and Community Hotline Services. We are committed to all aspects of the risk assessment process, and therefore have both scientists and psychologists on our staff who understand the impact of risk assessment, not just on the land but also for the surrounding communities, and the people within those communities.
