Terra Mentis Environmental Consulting LLC (Terra Mentis) is an independent woman owned company specializing in all aspects of human health and ecological risk assessment including the development of data quality objectives, data management, risk calculations, the development of clean up goals, and risk communications. The majority of our risk assessments are for industrial clients at large and complex facilities under Superfund or State led hazardous waste programs or voluntary remediation programs. We work with State and Federal Agencies to develop risk assessment guidance and protocols for Voluntary Remediation Programs. In addition, Terra Mentis offers litigation support that incorporates expert reports and expert witness testimony.
Terra Mentis has a particular expertise in the area of vapor intrusion, the toxicology of volatile organic compounds, and multiple chemical risk assessments.
As a niche company, Terra Mentis works with industrial clients, and teams with small to mid-sized environmental firms who do not have in-house risk assessment experts to expand their consulting services. We also work with the environmental departments of industrial firms to supplement their in-house expertise with risk assessment professionals to complete specific tasks or to supplement their staff.
Terra Mentis offers a unique perspective on the communication of risk, public meetings, and community outreach for several reasons. Our technical staff is available to prepare outreach materials that support public meetings and scientific presentations. In addition, our owners are trained psychologically to understand and work with the anxiety and fears associated with hazardous wastes in the environment. Terra Mentis’ believes that the most effective way to communicate with the public is to translate and simplify complex risk assessment issues.
